Deep Waters
Georgian Bay. When you live close to a large body of water it effects the sky, the winds, the temperature, the vegetation, the wildlife, and especially our connection to place.
The power, beauty and majesty of this large body of water calls to us. Lying between limestone cliffs and ancient forests of the Niagara escarpment, miles of sand beach and rocky shoreline, and dotted with windswept islands, the deep, cold waters of Georgian Bay hold stories of who we are and where we came from.
Loose layered under paintings seek to capture the colour and clarity of the water, from deep blues, to ocean greens, to Caribbean turquoise, with suggestions of the rocks and life below that can be seen at great depth.
