100 days of painting the wild 2021

This project was an exploration of our connection to nature, and specifically, in relation to our ‘happy place’. For me that is the beauty and untamed ’wild’ of Georgian Bay and Escarpment country. This is a collection of paintings of favourite places, from photos taken on hikes on the Bruce trail and around Collingwood, as well as those of friends and neighbours.

On February 1st, 2021, I joined a large group of creatives on instagram doing something called the #100dayproject. I painted every day, even if only for an hour, for 100 consecutive days. I started by painting my favourite places, mostly on the Bruce Trail, and then expanded it to include other peoples 'happy place' in the wild. Neighbours and friends shared pictures and words about why their favourite place was special to them. I received so many beautiful stories about the beauty, peace and healing attributes of being in nature, and how blessed we are to live in this beautiful area. You can find my project on Instagram @margaretcora.art #100daysofpaintingthewild.
